We’re committed to ethical trading, and this mellow coffee comes from the Wahana Coffee Estate in the Dairi district in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The estate is run to a corporate social responsibility ethos, with a clinic for the workers and a farmers’ support centre which distributes free shade trees, organic fertilizer and coffee seeds. Wahana Estate has an altitude of 1200-1500 metres. It also has a high annual rainfall of 2000 – 3000 mm and a significant temperature drop at night. These factors combine to an increase in sugar content of 13%, making this one of the most popular coffee producing regions in Indonesia. And the result in the cup – simply stunning!
